Dixie National Parade

A few weeks ago I took Hayden to the Dixie National Parade, something I hadn't been to since I had been in the thing, a loooooong time ago, and we had so much fun! Jeff had drill that weekend so I took for my parents for assistance, any extra time Hayden gets to spend with his Papa is thoroughly enjoyed by both! So we get there pretty early to avoid the crowds of vehicles, lack of parking spaces, and lack of visibility of the parade, needless to say we had time to kill so we hung out on Mississippi Street for a little while. Moving along, we found our places at the start of the parade (directly in the sun, great for warmth horrible for pictures). As the parade started the motor bregade started everything off, besides a slight mishap at the end of MS Street with one of the motorcycles turning over (no one was hurt) we had a lot of fun! The Color Guard was Hayden's first favorite, as he saw the men in uniform he said, "that daddy", of course it wasn't and I had to explain to him that's the uniform daddy wears but it wasn't daddy. Moving on to my first favorite, the Classic Cars, and there were plenty of them. As the parade continued we saw people who reinacted the Civil War, the Hinds Hi-Steppers, the Rodeo Princesses and Queen(that was me once, ages ago), and of course we can't forget Haley Barbor, and the Pick-Up Men of the rodeo, and much more. Much fun was had by all and to much candy came home, luckily I gave away all of the Mardi Gras beads behind Hayden's back because he wasn't bringing everything he had home with him, I could've resold all of the beads and made a killing off of them he was thrown so many! There was so much candy given to him he started off saying, "trick or treat" at the beginning. Finally he realized he didn't have to say anything at all so he just stood there looking as cute as pie holding his hand out. When he caught candy he didn't really care for (peppermints, hard candy) he was a sweety and gave it to an elderly lady sitting beside us in her wheel chair. I know I can't wait until next year, and I'm sure he is the same!
